Nera WorldPhone Marine

The Nera WorldPhone Marine offers telecommunications via the Inmarsat mini-M system that uses spot beams to cover the major ocean regions, save for the more remote areas and the poles. It offers the convenience of cost-effective mobile communications on board a wide variety of vessels, including:

• fishing vessels, for communication in waters outside the range of VHF and cellular telephone as well as for secure communications anywhere.
  
• deep-sea ships, which have complete Inmarsat-B terminals but also need more cost-effective services, such as for crew calling.
  
• coastal craft, which need more consistent communications than that available via VHF or cellular telephone.
  
• ocean-going yachts sailing the seas of the world.

Basic telephone services

The WorldPhone Marine is a compact, robust system, made to tolerate extreme maritime conditions. It consists of a maritime antenna that keeps lock on the satellite despite vessel motion, and a conveniently small below decks electronics unit, and offers:

• 2.4 kbps Group 3 (G3) telefax.
• 2.4 kbps data communication (ASD).
• Encryption (optional).
