INMARSAT B SERVICES
Inmarsat B provides the heart that powers
the communications services between a
ship and the outside world. It is an
efficient, all-digital, and global Inmarsat
system that supports telephone and telefax
services, telex and Internet and LAN
access, as well as the emergency services
required for deep-sea and passenger
ships. The hardware consists of a
sensor-stabilized antenna above decks and
an electronics unit and its peripherals
below decks, usually on the bridge of a
vessel. A land version of the Inmarsat B
system is also available.
