The workers have been working around the clock on site in and around the disaster site

September 12, 2001

MVS USA, in cooperation with OSN and Inmarsat is providing free Inmarsat calls to relief workers working at the World Trade Center bomb site. The workers, which consist of Firemen, Policemen, Red Cross and local volunteers have been working around the clock on site in and around the disaster site.

Thinking only of the victims and their families, these workers have been working without stop, on little sleep, and residing on site since the day of the Attack. The New York mobile phone system and localland lines have been down so there has been no way to phone out.

Communications are necessary for relief coordination and to help the families of the workers themselves. Since so many firemen and policemen have perished in the rescue effort, the stress on their families has become an enormous concern and this is where MVS USA has stepped in. Our service is being used for coordination and 'phone home' communications.

MVS USA in coordination with Inmarsat are providing the airtime, for five terminals and OSN is providing the equipment as our small contribution to the relief effort and to bring some peace of mind to the families of those helping.
